Project Scoring and Selection process

The application form consists of three parts, four for collaborative projects.  

 

1. Applicant information

2. Project title and description (400 words max)

3. Supporting statement: (500 words max)  

4. Collaborative projects only  - collaborative statement (300 words max)

 

 

Proposals will be evaluated and scored by independent markers against the following criteria,  which should be evidenced in your application: 

 

1. ​Excellence and novelty of the research project.   

This should include how the project will address DiMeN XL Research Themes and MRC Skills Priority Areas. 

 

2. Quality and strength of supervisory team: including subject knowledge and technical expertise; publication in relevant fields; lab funding; and supervisor career stage; access to facilities and networks; success in supervising students.

 

3. Development culture: How the supervisory team will be supporting and developing the student; supervision and training plan; commitment to positive research culture.
 

4. Added value: How the MRC DLA student would add value to current research by building synergies, developing new collaborations, and opening up new areas of research.
 

5. For collaborative projects:  The quality of the non-academic partner; fit to the project; commitment from industry/non-academic partner; training opportunities for the student.
